House committee asks Texas Rangers to investigate Bonnen-Sullivan meeting – The Texas House General Investigating Committee on Monday morning asked the Texas Rangers to investigate a June 12 meeting between House Speaker Dennis Bonnen and two others that has raised questions about whether any state laws were broken.

Leon Valley council member voted out for interfering with city operations – A Leon Valley City Council member who was booted off the council amid sexual harassment complaints said he plans to sue over the fracas, the San Antonio Express-News reported.

Red-light camera ban also stops bus-camera program in most areas – Texas banned red light cameras in June, joining at least seven states that have halted use of the traffic devices, which advocates say save lives but which ran into controversy over that claim and other problems.

Houston firefighters turn up heat on mayor over trucks with no AC – In the midst of a serious heatwave, many Houston firefighters have had to operate out of trucks that lack air conditioning. This has prompted the firefighters union to demand the city repair its aging fleet, the Houston Chronicle reported.
