Austin ethics panel finds former aide to mayor violated law: An ethics panel found that a former aide to Austin Mayor Steve Adler violated city code by accepting payments from a nonprofit he promoted that won city contracts, the Austin American-Statesman reported.

Houston school district could have settled a $9 million copyright suit for $250,000: After declining to settle a claim of copyright violations in 2016 for $250,000, the Houston school district was saddled with a court judgment of more than 36 times that amount last month, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Ivanhoe marshal indicted on charge of official oppression: Ivanhoe Marshal Terry Riley was indicted by a Tyler County grand jury on a charge of official oppression, ABC-12 reported.
