We were thrilled to see the write-up in the San Antonio Express-News about long time San Antonio anchor and viewer favorite Chris Marrou in his new role at The Texas Monitor.
Marrou is a San Antonio institution, whose journalism career spanned decades. He is well known for commanding the anchor chair at KENS-TV. He retired in 2009 and joined The Texas Monitor team this year.
We thought the Express-News headline described Marrou quite well:
From the Express-News and reporter Jeanne Jakle:
Marrou, who turns 70 in November, is lending his face, voice and journalism skills to a nonprofit digital-journalism outlet called The Texas Monitor.
“With so many readers now getting their news through social media, we’ll be meeting them there with broadcast reports they aren’t getting anywhere else,” Marrou says.
He’ll be part of a small team of journalism pros that includes former Dallas Morning News and Washington Times reporter Steve Miller and Trent Seibert, editor and founder of The Texas Monitor. Seibert’s background also is largely in print journalism. Previous jobs included reporting and editing for The Denver Post and the San Diego Union-Tribune. Most recently, he was the investigative producer for Houston’s ABC affiliate KTRK-TV.
We’re looking forward to Marrou anchoring more video reports. More importantly we will continue to tap into his journalism expertise and experience. His reputation and voice will be a boon to The Texas Monitor’s mission, which is to aggressively cover public integrity in state and local government.
Stay tuned to The Texas Monitor.
