Voters in North Texas cities this month approved bond proposals to fund everything from street improvements to new city halls and parks to a grand total of $4.7 billion. Those results show signs of a “sophisticated” electorate, according to a local elections analyst.

They’ve run out of rent-a-voters in the Houston suburbs.

Regardless of what the legislature appropriates for the Texas State Auditor’s Office to operate for the next two years, the state’s chief watchdog agency is in no danger of running out of money.

The Texas House on Wednesday all but guaranteed the state will take away the regulation of gas pumps and gas quality from the Department of Agriculture and turn it over to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

The state Senate voted 23-8 this afternoon to ban red light traffic cameras in Texas.
