Founder of The Texas Monitor passes away, Austin resists citizen's referenda, suspended Prosper administrator still on payroll, fraud in Travis County tax office.

Trent Seibert, the founder and editor of The Texas Monitor and my friend for 10 years, died this week at his home in Houston, apparently of natural causes. He was 47.

Twice in the same week, the Texas Supreme Court has been asked to act quickly to block important Nov. 6 ballot issues crafted and approved by the Austin City Council.

Despite the reduced responsibilities, records show Rachell Grant continues to collect an administrator-level salary.

A grand jury has blamed lax supervisors for allowing a “really big, organized” vehicle title fraud ring to flourish within the Travis County Tax Office.
